Stand-up Paddleboarding in the Lake District – beautiful places to paddle in Cumbria – on sale from 2nd May 2024
This is Jo’s second book sharing her experiences and love of paddleboarding, this time focusing on the Lake District with its truly spectacular scenery.
Her latest book, Stand-up Paddleboarding in the Lake District, is another example of Jo’s joy of sharing paddleboarding experiences to inspire us all. It is a beautifully photographed guide to places to paddleboard in the Lakes and along the Cumbrian coastline. Beautiful lakes that will take all day to paddle, surrounded by mesmerising mountains as a backdrop, surely have to be bucket list destinations for all paddle boarders.
We were honoured to be asked to review Jo’s first book, Standup Paddleboarding in Great Britain and even more honoured to have received a mention in this latest guide. We are super happy to support Jo with her endeavours and adventures, as she promotes paddle boarding for well-being at any age.
This second book from Jo, just like the first, is brought to life with engaging stories of paddleboarders, the rich history and geography of the Lakes, and practical information on launching, transport, eating, exploring, paddling, and safety. Everything you need to try somewhere new and planning your very own Lake District adventure. This is the only available guidebook exclusively focusing on the Lake District, one of the best places to SUP in the UK.
Jo came to stand-up paddleboarding at age fifty-one and knew immediately it was something extraordinary. She began paddleboarding while she was recovering from injury and it got her through grief, anxiety, and a difficult menopause and empty nesting. In 2019, she became the first woman to paddleboard coast to coast, picking up litter and fundraising for the 2 Minute Foundation and The Wave Project. A film about her journey, Brave Enough – A Journey Home to Joy has been shown at prestigious adventure festivals. Now just turned 60, Jo has taken up skateboarding! You can follow her on Instagram to see how she gets on, but what you will always see with Jo is a huge smile of joy which is infectious.
Jo will also be at SUP Fest 2024 which will be held at DryBeck Farm, near Carlisle, so get your ticket and could get to meet the author herself. We are sure she would be thrilled to sign your copy of her book, which you can pre-order via the link below:
